"Never Have I Ever"...Drank Tea From Netflix's Best Cast!

"Never have I ever..." had to guess what the go-to tea choices are of this show's awesome cast!

If you love both Netflix's "Never Have I Ever" — and tea! — as much as we do, then you've come to the right place. John McEnroe may know the characters' deepest thoughts and feelings, but only we know the actors' favorite teas!

If you've ever wondered which teas Maitreyi Ramakrishan drinks when she's not playing Devi, or what tea Kamala's character played by Richa Moorjani dreams of, you've come to the right place!

Let's find out what the cast of Never Have I Ever has in their teabox!

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan — Jasmin Green Tea Bubble Tea

Alright, let's "spill the tea" on Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, aka our beloved Devi Vishwakumar. Her character isn't shy about sharing much about her life, and neither is Maitreyi when it comes to sharing her tea obsessions in interviews.

To start, Maitreyi told E! News "I love TAZO's new Energize blend. It has chipotle chili powder which is really cool." She adds, "I also love their classic Earl Grey tea and Zen tea as well."

But, apparently her go-to is something a little more...specific.

According to Bustle, Maitreyi says "Jasmine green tea is my favorite — I’ll take it with a little bit of milk" and " The best form it comes in though is bubble tea."

If you want to know exactly what she orders when she goes for bubble tea, Maitreyi told Nylon, "Jasmine milk tea with brown sugar boba, 50 percent less ice".

That being said, even though this is her tea of choice, Maitreyi went to Twitter to do some crowd-sourcing for solid recs on good bubble teas. Got any for her?

Darren Barnet — Homemade Wellness Tea

Perhaps the secret to Paxton Hall-Yoshida's good looks — played by Darren Barnet — has something to do with the actor's wellness routine, which includes a very special homemade tea.

Darren showed Cosmopolitan in an episode of Stir Crazy how he makes his personal recipe for "...the wellness tea drink he makes for himself every day". The recipe includes a a whole plethora of ingredients which he shows you step-by-step how to do in the article's video.

Here's how you can make your own version of what we'll call the "Darren Delight". Keep in mind, he's almost as unsure about these ingredients as Devi is about her love life.

  • 1 lemon, sliced

  • 1 bag of turmeric tea (though, he usually goes for ginger)

  • 1 bag of green tea

  • 1 teaspoon (?) turmeric powder

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 cup of hot water

(Or, you can eyeball these amounts as Barnet does in the video!)

Instructions:

  1. Squeeze the lemon slice into the mug.

  2. Add the bag of turmeric tea and the bag of green tea

  3. Sprinkle in turmeric powder (a teaspoon?)

  4. Squeeze in a generous amount of honey.

  5. Sprinkle in some ground cinnamon.

  6. Add two "cap-fulls" of apple cider vinegar.

  7. Boil water and carefully pour one cup of hot water into the mug.

  8. Stir and enjoy!

Richa Moorjani — Thai Iced Tea

Now let's talk about Richa Moorjani: the fabulous Kamala. It's not hot tea for this kick-ass actress, but a special iced treat!

In an interview with Hemispheres, she was asked "Is there one meal from a past vacation you can't stop thinking about?" to which she talked about the breakfast buffet at her honeymoon resort, which had great vegan options and what she said was "...the best Thai iced tea we've ever had, made with fresh coconut cream."

Ramona Young — "Hot, Plain Tea"

When it comes to Eleanor Wong, the quirky and melodramatic — yet, kind and sweet best friend of Devi and Fabiola — is a bit opposite from the actress who plays her when it comes to her simple tea choice. In an interview, Ramona Yong tells Naluda Magazine that "I’m a vegetarian with two rabbits and I enjoy drinking hot plain tea."

Genneya Walton — Hot Toddy

Next up is Genneya Walton, who portrays Ms. Thompson — the exciting new substitute teacher in Season 4 — in Never Have I Ever. Like Darren, Genneya also did an interview with Cosmopolitan's Stir Crazy, while she was starring on another hit Netflix show, #BlackAF. Her tea of choice? A Hot Toddy, which may not be your first guess when it comes to a teacher!

According to Cosmo, Genneya used:

Ingredients:

  • Lemon

  • Honey

  • Sugar

  • Lemon + ginger tea

  • Jack Daniel's Honey Whiskey

Instructions:

  • In a mug, put the lemon + ginger tea into a mug of hot water.

  • Take out a plate, and sprinkle sugar on one side, pour honey on the other.

  • Take a separate glass, and place it upside down to twist the rim in the honey, and then the sugar to coat it

  • Pour a shot of the Jack Daniel's into a mug.

  • Squeeze the lemon into the glass.

  • Add the tea to the glass.

  • Stir and enjoy!

Of course, if you're young enough to be one of Ms. Thompson's students, don't be trying this at home!

Sendhil Ramamurthy — Green Tea Kit Kats

Last but not least, we have Sendhil Ramamurthy, the lovable Mohan Vishwakumar and Devi's late dad in Never Have I Ever. Now, Sendhil doesn't tell the media about a particular brew-of-choice, does have a playful connection to the tea world, and it comes in the form of Green Tea Kit Kats.

Okay, we know it's not an actual beverage, but it's a fun twist that showcases his love for all things green tea. After all, who can resist those tasty treats?
